Project Overview

Turning an overlooked consumer task into a simple, credible digital product.

Gift Card Giant came to Blennd with a focused opportunity: build a digital platform where people could quickly sell unwanted gift cards and merchandise credits for cash. On the surface, the concept sounded straightforward. In reality, it required a carefully designed experience that could make a financially sensitive transaction feel fast, legitimate, and easy enough for everyday users to trust. The brand promise was simple: help people turn unused cards into cash from anywhere, with the highest payout and zero stress.

Blennd partnered with Gift Card Giant to shape that vision from strategy through execution. The work included brand development, messaging, UX planning, content strategy, technical requirements, and platform design, all aimed at building a stronger foundation for launch and future growth. Rather than treating the project as a basic eCommerce build, the team approached it as the creation of a full digital brand and membership-based product experience.

The Challenge

Trust, clarity, and operational complexity had to be solved at the same time.

Gift Card Giant was entering a category where skepticism is natural. Consumers needed to believe the company was legitimate, understand how the process worked, and feel confident that they would receive a secure, fair payout. The strategy work made this explicit by identifying trust and transparency as a primary objective, alongside the need for a seamless journey. Competitive research also showed a category crowded with transactional-looking brands, creating an opportunity for Gift Card Giant to stand apart through stronger identity, messaging, and user experience.

There was also significant workflow complexity beneath the surface. The MVP needed to support account creation, identity verification, gift card submission, order tracking, payout preferences, retailer management, and shipping logistics for physical cards. On the administrative side, the team needed tools to manage rates, order statuses, customer records, team access, and fraud-related safeguards. The challenge was to translate all of that into something that felt clear and low-friction for users while remaining practical for the business to operate.

The Solution

A strategy-led platform built around confidence, simplicity, and future growth.

Blennd structured the solution around the needs of Gift Card Giant’s primary phase-one audience: gift card sellers. The persona work showed that these users cared about quick payout, control, secure digital exchange, and good service from real people, while also fearing online scams, low value, and time-consuming tasks. That insight shaped the user stories, which prioritized education, account creation, selling, order management, and customer service across both new and returning users.

From there, the product strategy focused on simplifying the experience into understandable actions and clear outcomes. The planned flow walked users through learning how the platform works, checking accepted retailers and payouts, creating an account, selling a card, and reviewing or tracking orders. The MVP requirements also outlined a simple three-step explanation of the process, a resource center for FAQs and support content, and a member dashboard where users could monitor open and completed transactions. Future enhancements were already considered as well, including the potential to exchange gift cards for other gift cards through a members-only store.

The Design

A distinctive brand system built to signal trust and stand apart.

The brand work played a central role in the project. One of the core strategic goals was to define a clear and professional identity that proved legitimacy, improved perception, and differentiated Gift Card Giant from competitors. Blennd developed a stronger logo system, a modern typographic approach using TT Commons Pro, and a color palette built around bold, memorable tones like royal, flame, gray, black, and white. The creative direction leaned into a more energized, modern look while still feeling credible and easy to understand.

The messaging system was equally intentional. The positioning framed Gift Card Giant as a place for anyone with unwanted gift cards to sell them for cash through a fast, easy, and secure online platform that offers the highest and fastest payout because people should choose where they spend their money. Voice and tone were defined as trustworthy, savvy, modern, helpful, and practical, while sample headlines like “Sell gift cards. Get paid. Spend your way.” and “Fast cash with zero stress.” gave the brand a clear and ownable point of view. Supporting photo and video direction emphasized candid moments, transacting online, diverse subjects, and an overall visual style that felt clean, minimal, modern, and energized.

The Platform

A membership-based WordPress build designed to support real operations.

To power the MVP, Blennd recommended a WordPress-based platform supported by ACF Pro, Gravity Forms, MemberPress, Stripe, and ShipEngine. This stack was selected to handle the specific business requirements of the experience, including secure login, user account creation, card submission workflows, payout handling, and shipping support for physical cards. The sitemap also clarified how the front-end and member portal should work together, connecting pages like How It Works, Our Retailers, Get Started, My Dashboard, Sell a Gift Card, and order tracking into one coherent ecosystem.

The sell flow itself was intentionally structured for clarity. Users could select a retailer and card amount, see an instant payout offer, choose whether the card was digital or physical, select a payout method such as Venmo, Cash App, or check, and review the order before submitting. On the admin side, the platform was designed to support editable submission entries, payout preferences, retailer data management, shipping label generation, and status notifications. This gave Gift Card Giant not only a customer-facing experience, but an operational system capable of supporting the business behind the scenes.

The Results

A stronger brand and a more scalable foundation for launch and optimization.

The most important outcome of the engagement was that Gift Card Giant emerged with more than a concept. It now had a clear strategy, a differentiated brand system, a more trustworthy message, and a well-defined digital product experience designed around what users actually needed in order to feel confident transacting online. By aligning brand, UX, content, and platform planning, Blennd helped transform a potentially uncertain exchange model into a more credible and usable business experience.

The strategy also created a roadmap beyond launch. Blennd outlined SEO opportunities around high-intent searches like “sell my gift card,” “websites that buy gift cards,” and “exchange gift card for cash,” along with blog content, conversion tracking, paid media, retargeting, review acquisition, referral programs, and ongoing A/B testing. That means the value of the engagement extended beyond design and development alone. It established a stronger digital foundation for future growth, customer acquisition, and ongoing optimization as the platform matured.
